As you may have picked up by now, I am a lover of food…cooking, consuming, experimenting and above all appreciating it! Now that the weather has turned, I have come out of the cave I have been hiding out in and getting out to explore the countless restaurants and bars New York City has to offer. Here are last week’s locals!
Revival // Union Square , 129 E 15th Street
Excellent location geographically and physically for a group gathering…fortunate enough to have a tight knit high school community in NYC, I joined several young alumni out for post work drinks at this minimalist Gramercy/Union Square/East Village spot! Can’t to return to take advantage of their outside seating! The free popcorn at the bar was also a hit!
Linen Hall // East Village, 101 3rd Avenue @ 13th Street
homemade kettle chips, incredibly thin and crisp to perfection…I had the halibut fish tacos and onion rings and my date had the classic burger and fries…great place to go when you want to sit at the bar and *bonus* get to look and listen to gorgeous Irishman tending bar (swoon)
Bagatelle // Meatpacking, 1 Little W 12th St
I took a high school gal pal here for a much needed girls night out. Used a beloved Gilt City voucher that I have been coveting for months now…our apps were the bagatelle salad and the ahi tuna tartar and for our entrees, we had the grilled prawns and risotto and the steak and frites! For desert, we had the always-a-hit profiteroles. Deee-LISH! And! As if we weren’t excited enough, as we were served our pre-dinner drinks – their awesome DJ stopped and the Gipsy Kings began a live performance! It was an amazing addition to our ladies night out! PS– if you aren’t a member of Gilt yet, fix that here!
Kefi // Upper West Side, 505 Columbus Ave @ 84th Street
I had not dinned out on the UWS in far too long and I was delighted with this choice (which I have to say was entirely to the credit of new friend Grace, Brava!) Well suited for groups large and small, my crowd of 7 dined on fantastic Greek fare – I had perfectly cooked grilled salmon over sautéed broccoli rabe — with (seemingly endless) pitchers of white sangria and a gin based elixir!
